Sad News from the 2015 GTOAA National Convention
Posted: July 11, 2015
Earlier today, at the conclusion to the awards banquet at the 2015 GTOAA National Convention in Columbus, Indiana, Dan Gregory, Jr. took the stage to
deliver some saddening news.
A few days before, Dan Gregory, Sr. had been placed in the
hospital for testing and observation. He was released and
returned to the host hotel. As the award banquet began, we were
informed that Dan Gregory, Jr. was at the hospital with his
father again, and his condition was unknown.
At the end of the awards banquet, Paul Freese made mention that
everyone in that awards banquet was family to him, and as he
called Dan, Jr. to the podium. He gave a nice, short speech
about his father, with an amazing composure. As he said during his few brief words, his father was known for grand entrances and exits, and he felt there was no grander an exit for his father than for him to pass doing what he loved with people that he loved at the GTOAA National Convention.
Those who knew Dan Gregory, Sr. would understand how fitting his last words were for him:
"Tell my friends I love them, and the rest of 'em to go to hell." - Dan Gregory, Senior, July 11th, 2015
